BIXOLON XD5-40
The BIXOLON XD5-40 is a 4-inch desktop label printer for shipping desks, warehouses, retail and offices that want one platform for both short-life and durable labels. It prints direct thermal (d) or thermal transfer with a ribbon (t) at 203 dpi (XD5-40) or 300 dpi (XD5-43), and the range runs from a USB-only unit to versions with Ethernet, RS232, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, an LCD display or an RFID encoder.
Which version?
The part number shows how each XD5-40 is built:
| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
| XD5-40 / XD5-43 | 203 dpi / 300 dpi |
| d / t / tR | Direct thermal / thermal transfer / thermal transfer with RFID encoder (XD5-40tR, 203 dpi) |
| O | LCD display |
| E | USB, RS232 and Ethernet |
| EB / EW | USB, RS232 and Ethernet plus Bluetooth / plus Wi-Fi |
| K without E | USB only |
Example: XD5-43tOEWK is a 300 dpi thermal transfer printer with LCD, USB, RS232, Ethernet and Wi-Fi.
XD5-40 or XD3-40?
The XD3-40 is the simpler 4-inch model: 203 dpi only, no display and wired connections only. Choose the XD5-40 when you need 300 dpi, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, an LCD or RFID encoding. The XD5-40II is the second generation with the same part-number logic.
All XD5-40 printers below are CE certified and covered by manufacturer warranty. Thermal transfer (t) models need a ribbon matched to the label material — see our ribbons and labels.
