The Newland NVF260 is a compact corded presentation scanner built for healthcare – above all for tracking surgical instruments in sterile services departments – and for reading direct part marks (DPM) in industry. A new generation of industrial decoding algorithms reads dot-peened and laser-etched DPM codes, even on curved metal surfaces, while the blue diffuse illumination ring prevents glare from shiny metal. The megapixel 1280 × 800 imager decodes codes as small as 3 mm, and the IP64 housing with its medical-grade coating can be disinfected with alcohol-based solutions without damage. This version, NLS-NVF260-20, is the USB kit: it is supplied with a 1.2 m direct USB cable – plug it in and scan, no power supply needed.
