Both are Bixolon 80 mm direct thermal receipt printers with an autocutter, a 24 V cash drawer port and the same Windows, OPOS and JavaPOS drivers. The SRP-E302 is Bixolon's compact, economical model: it prints sharper at 203 dpi, takes larger rolls and, in our SRP-E302K/BEG version, connects by USB only. The SRP-330III in our SRP-330IIIESK/BEG version adds Ethernet and serial, prints a little faster and can switch to 58 mm paper.

    Choose the SRP-E302 if
    • Your till is a computer connected by USB
    • You want sharp 203 dpi print and 48 characters per line
    • Counter space is tight
    • You print on 80 mm paper only and want fewer roll changes with 83 mm rolls
    Choose the SRP-330III if
    • You want to print over your network, for example from several tills or a tablet POS that supports network printers
    • Your POS system needs RS-232 serial
    • You print on 58 mm rolls, or may switch later
    • You print long receipts or high volumes and want the faster printer with the longer-rated cutter

    What the two printers share

Both use the same Bixolon Software POS Windows Driver, OPOS and JavaPOS drivers, virtual COM port drivers and BIXOLON Utility. Both have a 72 mm print width on 80 mm rolls, a 150 km print head, a 24 V drawer port for up to two drawers and the same environment ratings. On both you change settings such as print density and cutting mode in the memory switch menu after a self-test. Bixolon lists Paper Save Mode for both.

    Where they really differ

    Connections

Our SRP-E302K connects by USB only. If you need Ethernet or serial, Bixolon also makes the SRP-E302ESK with USB, Ethernet and serial, which is the same combination as our SRP-330IIIESK. Network printing on both ES versions works the same way: DHCP from the factory and port 9100.

    Print quality and paper

The SRP-E302 prints 48 characters per line at 203 dpi; the SRP-330III prints 42 at 180 dpi. If your POS layout was designed for 48 columns, the SRP-E302 matches it. Bixolon's 203 dpi version of the SRP-330III is the SRP-332III. The SRP-330III can take 58 mm rolls with the included partition, but Bixolon advises not to go back to 80 mm afterwards. The SRP-E302 is specified for 80 mm paper only.

    Size and placement

The SRP-E302 is smaller and lighter, and Bixolon describes it for stand-alone or space-saving wall-mount use with a top/front paper exit. The SRP-330III is the larger, faster printer with a cutter rated for 1.8 million cuts.
