The Honeywell Solaris XP 7990g is a vertical 2D presentation (slot) scanner for high-volume checkouts in convenience, drug, specialty, liquor and grocery stores. Built on Honeywell's XP platform, its 1280 × 960 pixel area imager reads 1D, 2D, PDF417, postal and OCR codes – including poorly printed and damaged barcodes – with a motion tolerance of more than 4 m/s, and its compact design fits easily into existing checkout enclosures. This version, 7990G-2USBX-1, is supplied with a 3 m USB cable – the scanner runs on USB power, so no power supply is included or needed.

Key Features
- Built for high-volume checkouts – a compact vertical slot design that fits easily into existing checkout enclosures in convenience, drug, specialty, liquor and grocery stores.
- XP performance – Honeywell's extreme performance (XP) platform delivers excellent snappiness, a motion tolerance of 4+ m/s and a wider field of view (42° × 34°) than previous Solaris models, so items can be passed quickly.
- Reads difficult codes – the 1280 × 960 pixel area imager handles poorly printed and damaged barcodes and decodes standard 1D, PDF417, 2D (e.g. QR Code, Data Matrix), postal and OCR symbologies.
- EAS deactivation – the 7990G versions connect to Checkpoint or Sensormatic EAS systems via an optional interlock cable, so security tags are deactivated during scanning.
- Auxiliary scanner port – connect an additional handheld scanner for bottom-of-basket and bulky items.
- Rip-and-replace upgrade – fully backwards compatible with legacy Solaris models such as the Solaris 7980g, so existing cables and checkout enclosures can be reused.
- Flexible connectivity – USB, keyboard wedge, RS-232 and IBM 46xx (RS-485), selected by the cable used.
- Reliable in any store – IP53 sealing, works in light levels up to 100,000 lux and comes with a 3-year factory warranty.
Ideal Applications
- PC- and tablet-based POS systems with a USB port – the scanner runs on USB power
- Convenience, drug, specialty and liquor stores
- Supermarket and grocery checkouts with high scanning volumes
- Integration into existing checkout counters and enclosures
